BJR Online SUBSCRIBER HELP & SERVICES:
Frequently Asked Questions
about Member Subscriptions

  1. Will I receive a password? May I share my password with friends, or is use limited solely to me?

When you complete the subscription process, you will be asked to choose a user name and a password. You are the only one licensed to use this password. This subscription is for your personal use only. It should not be shared with other individuals, and should not be used as a substitute for a full rate institutional subscription as these support the work of the BIR.

  2. What if I forget my password?

We have instructions for what to do if you forget your user name or your password. Details about how to do this will be included as part of the subscription process.

  3. Why should I get a member subscription to BJR Online?

    Member Subscribers have access to:
Tables of contents, abstracts, full text searching, full text display, PDFs, links to Medline, free links to the full text of cited references in other HighWire Press journals, and the advantage of having password access to BJR Online from any computer connected to the Internet.
[Ordering Procedure] [Cost] [ BIR Membership ]

Without a subscription you have access to Tables of contents, abstracts, and all available full text content up to and including 2000, and full text searching at no cost and without having to register.

  4. How can I tell if my institution has subscribed? How do I get my institution to subscribe?

If your institution has a paper subscription, it will be eligible to have an electronic version of the journal as well. In so doing, you will automatically have access to the tables of contents, abstracts, full-text searching, full text display, PDFs, Medline, and future tables of contents. You'll also see a button at the top of the page confirming you're signed in as part of an institution.

If your institution does not have a paper subscription, it cannot get an electronic version of The British Journal of Radiology. If you would like to have an institutional subscription, please contact your local librarian.

  5. Will I still be able to get the paper version?

Yes, members and institutions will continue to receive the paper version.

  6. Who is eligible for a Member Subscription?

BIR Members are eligible for Member Subscriptions to BJR, providing them with a paper and electronic version of the journal. Members may also have access to BJR Online through an Institutional Subscription. Institutional Subscriptions are somewhat more limited than Member Subscriptions. The special member services are not available to non-member subscribers, and full-text access from off of the institution's network (e.g. home access) is not available. BIR Members are the only individuals who can receive an electronic only subscription to BJR Online.

  7. How can I access the BJR Online if I am not an BIR member and I don't have access through an institutional subscription?

You may wish to apply for BIR membership . Without a subscription you have access to all Tables of contents and abstracts, as well as available full text content up to 24 months prior to the current issue, and full text searching (but not full text viewing of current material) at no cost and without having to register.

  8. How do I become a member of BIR?

Information about BIR Membership and application forms are available from the BIR.
