(a) Axial PET image shows an area with increased glucose metabolism in the left lower abdomen, suggesting a distant, peritoneal metastasis (black arrow). (b) Corresponding axial CT image was evaluated as negative for abdominal metastases. (c) Corresponding axial PET/CT image shows increased glucose metabolism in a small, contrast-enhancing mass directly beneath small bowel loops (white arrow). PET/CT suggested a peritoneal metastasis, which was confirmed by radiological and clinical follow up.
