Pancreatic body carcinoma.(a,b) Consecutive axial images showed that the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) was surrounded to more than 50% of the vessel circumference by tumour and the vessel wall appeared infiltrated. Pre-operatively, this case was judged irresectable. At surgical exploration, the SMA was found not to be invaded (only fibrotic infiltration) by tumour and was successfully resected.
