We are grateful to Dr Parkin and colleagues for their comments, and acknowledge both the utility of their radionuclide technique and the relatively low ionizing radiation dose. However, the objective of our study was to extend the HPI methodology to MR with a view to developing a parametric HPI mapping technique in the future which would allow not only the detection of HPI changes, but also the anatomical localization of perfusion abnormalities.
