Book review |
This book is aimed at radiology trainees and practicing radiologists with an interest in musculoskeletal work, also sonographers and other related disciplines.
The book starts with two pages on principles and pitfalls and the echo characteristics of tissues encountered in musculoskeletal ultrasound.
The main part of the book is divided into four sections covering chest, upper limb, abdomen and pelvis and lower limb. Each of these is subdivided in to areas of anatomical interest.
The format is uniform throughout with line drawings of probe and patient position accompanied by the corresponding ultrasound image. Use is also made of panoramic images. On some pages there are concise anatomical descriptions with plenty of space for notes below.
The quality of image reproduction is variable which may be inevitable when trying to keep the cost of the book as affordable as it is.
The concept is good but I feel that more spent on image reproduction and the inclusion of even line drawings of the cross sectional anatomy would add vastly to the book's usefulness, and would probably repay the extra cost.
With this proviso I think this book would be a useful aid to practitioners who already have some experience.
