This book, one of the Medical Radiology Diagnostic Imaging series from Springer gives an up to date review of this very specialized area of paediatric radiology. The authors are drawn from all over the world, all experts in their fields. As well as the core chapters on the diseases suffered by neonates specifically there is a very good chapter on the diagnostic imaging of pneumonia in neonates. The text is made particularly comprehensive by chapters on the embryology of the neonatal chest, an excellent review of modern clinical management of neonatal chest conditions and chapters on congenital chest malformations, both antenatal and post natal, congenital heart disease, upper airway problems and chest wall abnormalities causing respiratory distress.
This book should appeal to all involved in the radiology of neonates, the update on clinical management being of interest to even the most experienced radiologist in the field with the totality of the text covering the entire spectrum of neonatal chest disease. The quality of reproduction of the images is excellent and I am sure that this book will rapidly establish itself as the standard for neonatal chest imaging.
