The volume reflects the contribution of a number of authors and addresses accepted practice rather than cutting edge development. In fulfilling its role as an educational text, the authors have divided the book into two sections: a general technical overview and a section focusing on regional clinical and radiological problems specific to individual anatomical areas. Illustrations and diagrams are of good quality and easy to understand.
This approach will prove valuable to non-radiological clinical colleagues requiring an insight as to what interventional radiology can offer their own areas of specialty interest.
The text is by no means comprehensive, however, fibroid embolisation merits a paragraph and vertebroplasty and musculoskeletal techniques are not addressed.
It is the authors intention that this textbook should provide a succinct review of interventional practice for trainees, general radiologists and the professions allied to medicine. Those wishing systematic comprehensive reference will be better served elsewhere.
