The editors of this admirable atlas make a strong case for skeletal radioisotope imaging. Alongside numerous high quality planar and SPECT images, there are many correlative radiographic, CT and MR images, all with excellent legends and explanations. Succinct teaching points reinforce the key findings for the majority of cases and there is judicious use of tables; the text is suitably sparse for an atlas.
A brief section on techniques is followed by examples of normal anatomy, variants and pitfalls. Subsequent chapters deal with pattern recognition and various disease groups whilst a good index allows extensive cross-referencing, including separate indexes of paediatric and sports-related injuries.
There is a vast amount of information in this book and it makes an excellent accompaniment to standard radiological texts. The one disappointment is a lack of references.
