A Thomas
This is an excellent, detailed and well referenced account of all aspects of the imaging of disorders of the hand and wrist.
The book begins with the basics and gives an account of the radiographic positions for plain radiographs of the hand and wrist. All imaging modalities are then covered, including conventional arthrography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, CT and MRI. Normal and pathological appearances are covered in detail. There is excellent correlation between the different imaging techniques. I particularly enjoyed the chapters on metabolic disease and rheumatic diseases. I benefited from reading this book and came away feeling that my interpretation of hand and wrist images is often rather simplistic and that there is more information to be gathered from these images than I can usually obtain. A fault of multiple autbored books is that there is often considerable repetition between chapters. This has been avoided in this book and the editors are to be congratulated.
Considering its length and quality, this book is reasonably priced at £137.50. Books from Springer are always well procuced, being printed on good paper with quality binding. The image reproduction is excellent.
This book can be thoroughly recommended for any with an interest in hand and wrist imaging. It would be of interest not only to radiologists but also to orthopaedic surgeons and rheumatologists, and should be in any larger medical library.
