Whilst I am in complete agreement with the view expressed in the article by Tyrrell et al [1], which recommends the continuing routine acquisition of at least two views for the plain radiographic assessment of the lumbar spine, I feel the lateral view used to illustrate the article demonstrated abnormalities which warrant further comment.
