There is a temptation to regard a waiting list—like bush fires and hurricanes—as an act of God. In fact the problem of waiting times for treatment is tractable and is simply one of supply and demand. A computer program has been written for a standard spreadsheet (Excel) which deals specifically with the analysis and prediction of waiting times for radiotherapy. The model has several components.
