Clinical applications of 3D analysis in medical imaging

A technique has been developed to measure the distribution of aerosol deposition in the lungs, in order to investigate how different sizes of particle and delivery conditions affect this distribution. Aerosols labelled with 99Tcm are delivered in a controlled manner to the subject, after which single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is performed with a rotating gamma camera.
