Technetium-99m HMPAO labelled leucocyte scanning in the inital diagnosis of Crohn's disease

B Bury

Department of Nuclear Medicine The General Infirmary at Leeds Great George Street Leeds West Yorkshire LSI3EX

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

I read the paper by Malcolm et al on leucocyte scanning with interest [1]. I agree that this is an underutilized technique, but the suggestion that it should be used in a screening role makes me rather nervous. Certainly in our department we would be unable to cope with the number of scans likely to be generated by our gastroenterologists, who have a large inflammatory bowel disease practice.
