This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

An 82-year-old male presented with a faint left iliac fossa pain. 8 years earlier he had undergone a sigmoid resection because of an adenocarcinoma (Dukes BI). He had remained well and without any signs of recurrence since the operation. The physical examination of this healthy looking man showed no abnormalities. Except for a positive faeces benzedine, the laboratory findings were normal.
