Sialography using a paediatric intravenous cannula

G. D. Walker, MB, MRCP(UK), FRCR

Department of Radiology, Southampton General Hospital, Tremona Road, Southampton SO9 4XY, UK

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

Sialography is the best way of assessing disease of the duct system of the parotid and submandibular glands. However, it can often be difficult to cannulate the orifices of Stenson's and Wharton's ducts with the available range of plastic and metal instruments.

A 24 G Jelco Teflon intravenous cannula (Critikon Ltd) offers practical benefits whilst costing less than 5% of one commercially produced alternative in use in the department.

Key Words: Sialography
