Rotator cuff pathology resulting from supraspinatus outlet narrowing as a result of acromion and acromio-clavicular joint abnormalities was analysed in 53 patients with clinical impingement syndrome. MR imaging of the 55 shoulders demonstrated two different types of downward slope of the anterior third of acromion compromising the supraspinatus outlet.
