99Tcm methoxy-isobutyl-isonitrile (MIBI) is a cationic complex which is replacing thallium in the investigation of cardiac ischaemia in many centres (Wackers et al, 1989) and is also finding non-cardiac applications (Piwnica-Worms & Holman, 1990). We wish to report on the visualization of the axillary vein after injection in two patients undergoing myocardial scintigraphy at rest using this agent. Incidental venous visualization has been reported after intravenous injection of thallium- 201. This was shown not to be a trivial finding since arm vein uptake compromised myocardial counting statistics significantly and was associated with a lower myocardial washout of thallium (Gal & Port, 1986). In that study, venous uptake appeared to be associated with the site of injection.
