Assessment of the current use of rare-earth screens in the United Kingdom

J. G. B. Russell

Department of Radiology, St Mary's Hospital, Manchester M13 0JH

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

I have surveyed the current use of tungstate screens in the United Kingdom by writing to 196 superintendent radiographers. I asked them to estimate the proportion of examinations carried out in their departments with rare-earth screens and their work load in terms of the number of patients examined. I had replies from 172 who were responsible for over 60% of all examinations carried out in the United Kingdom. Forty-eight per cent of the examinations were carried out with "rare-earth screens" and 52% with "tungstate".

Received for publication February 1, 1986.
