A vaginal applicator flange for use with the Selectron

R. Papworth and D. S. Murrell, M.R.C.P., F.R.C.R.

Sussex Centre for Radiotherapy and Oncology, Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, Sussex

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

Since 1980 the Selectron, manufactured by Nucletron Ltd, has been used for intracavitary gynaecological radiation treatments at Brighton. Included in the Selectron applicators is one for a vaginal treatment from a central linear source. The central tube is fitted with bobbins of varying diameter which are clamped in position by a flange which will lie against the perineum. The flange provided broke after being used twice so we decided to design a stronger model, which would also pivot in the sagittal plane and have space for a bladder catheter to pass through it.

Received for publication October 1, 1981. Revision received December 1, 1981.
