Hydatid disease: the value of whole-body screening by scintigraphy with technetium-99m-labelled red blood cells

D Front and O Israel

Whole-body scintigraphy with 99Tcm-labelled red blood cells was performed in eight patients with hydatid disease. There was good correlation between these studies and other diagnostic procedures which included radiocolloid liver scintigraphy, liver ultrasound, body computed tomography and chest radiography. Whole-body scintigraphy with 99Tcm-labelled red blood cells appears suitable for screening patients with hydatid disease, many of whom have multiple organ involvement.
