Bladder diverticulum: an uncommon cause of acute retention of urine in a male child

K. J. Shah, M.B., Ch.B., D.M.R.D., F.R.C.R.

Department of Diagnostic Radiology, The Children's Hospital, Birmingham B168ET

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

Diverticula of the bladder in infants and children are mostly primary (congenital) rather than secondary to obstruction or neurogenic dysfunction (Boechat and Lebowitz, 1978). Although they are common only a few give rise to complications. One such complication is acute retention of urine (Williams and Eckstein, 1968), but it is rarely seen and very few cases have been illustrated in the literature. A case is presented to demonstrate this complication.

Received for publication October 1, 1978.
