Dr. Ardran and his colleagues (1975) have suggested that new rare earth fluorescent screens will have application in obstetrical radiology. The Trimax system, the only commercial system currently available, is not suitable, in our experience, for fetal radiography. We find the fastest system (alpha 8 + XM film) too "grainy" to demonstrate fine detail of the fetus, necessary for proper diagnosis.
