OER for mixed neutrons and gamma rays

Robert Katz and S. C. Sharma

Physics Department, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska 68508 U.S.A.

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

A formula for the OER in a mixed field of neutrons and gamma rays (Hall, 1972a; 1972b) is given as

Omix = OnO{gamma}[1 + Pn(Rn – 1)]/[O{gamma}RnPn + On (1 – P n)],

Where Rn is the RBE of neutrons relative to {gamma} rays under aerated conditions, Omix is the OER for the mixture of neutrons and {gamma} rays, On and O{gamma} are the OERs for neutrons and {gamma} rays, respectively, and pn is the proportion of absorbed dose due to neutrons.
