Radio-iodine therapy to out-patients—the radiation hazard

E. Eric Pochin

MRC Department of Clinical Research, University College Hospital Medical School, University Street, London WC1E 6JJ

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

The very interesting and useful data of Buchan and Brindle (1971) give estimates of the absorbed dose received at the level of the neck by members of the household of outpatients treated for thyrotoxicosis with 131I. Expressed as mrads per mCi administered, husbands or wives received an average of 18 mrads/mCi, only three out of 29 such relatives receiving more than 30 mrads/mCi (their children receiving substantially less).
