Radioprotection in Total-body Irradiated Primates

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

The mortality of monkeys exposed to a potentially lethal dose of total-body X irradiation has been significantly reduced by treatment with antibiotics, TAB, and a single transfusion of allogeneic platelets. Omitting antibiotic therapy gave results that were inferior to those obtained when antibiotics were used in combination with TAB and platelets. The survival figure is comparable with that for lethally irradiated monkeys treated with autogeneic bone marrow.
