The theory and construction of individualised intensity modifying filters for use with irregular surfaces in ⁶⁰Co teletherapy are described. The theory results in a conversion function which is independent of the source-surface distance and which can be derived from standard depth dose tables. The practical application is greatly simplified by the special surface copying device which is described.
