British Institute of Radiology Annual Report of Council for 1929–1930
This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.
During the Session 1929–1930 there have been held, In addition to the Special December meetings and a joint meeting with the Institution of Electrical Engineers on March 20, seven general meetings of the Institute. These meetings have been marked by a very high average attendance, the accommodation of the Reid-Knox Hall having been severely taxed on several occasions. The scientific papers contributed at these meetings have dealt with the medical and physical aspects of radiology and have given rise to interesting discussions. The Exhibition and Annual Meeting, held on the three days December 4 to 6, was an even greater success than in previous years. The Exhibition was formally opened by the Rt. Hon. Arthur Greenwood, Minister of Health, and during the meeting the Silvanus Thompson Lecture was delivered by Professor A. S. Eddington, F.R.S., on "X rays in the Stars," and the Mackenzie Davidson Lecture by Professor Gösta Forssell on "Radio-Therapy of Malignant Tumours in Sweden." At other times throughout the meeting papers on medical and physical subjects were delivered and demonstrations were given illustrating the work of the Cambridge Medical Schools. At the close of the Annual Meeting a very successful dinner was held in the Trocadero Restaurant. The Council has once more to acknowledge the great debt which its owes to the Manufacturers to whose efforts and support is largely due the success of the Exhibition and of the Annual Meeting.
