A Survey of Surface Back-scatter Factors for Radiations Generated at 200 to 250 kV

J. R. Greening, B.Sc., Ph.D., A.Inst.P.

St. George's Hospital, London, S.W.1

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

Surface back-scatter values based on measurements at 16 centres are tabulated for fields up to 400 cm2 and H.V.L.'s from 1·0 to 3·5 mm Cu. The measurements, which were made under carefully controlled conditions, agreed at an H.V.L. of 1·5 mm Cu to within ±0·02 of the mean backscatter factors, although seven different types of X-ray generator were used. The effects of applicator end covers on back-scatter factors are investigated.

Accepted for publication January 1, 1954.
