Multiple Cystic Tuberculosis

Cecil Komins, M.B., Ch.B. (CAPE), D.M.R. (CAPE), Senior Radiologist

Johannesburg Group of Hospitals

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

1. The confusion which existed between Sarcoid bone lesions and those of Multiple Cystic Tuberculosis is discussed.

2. The term Osteitis Multiplex Cystoides Sarcoidosa is suggested instead of Osteitis Multiplex Cystoides Tuberculosa for the sarcoid bone lesions described by Jüngling. The term Multiple Pseudo-Cystic Tuberculosis of Bone is proposed to indicate the multiple tuberculous cystic lesions in children.

3. Three cases of the latter type are described.

4. The rarity of this condition, its high incidence in the coloured races, and the association of congenital syphilis are discussed.
