A Highly efficient multiple viewing-screen can be built around two standard 5-foot 80-watt fluorescent lamps arranged between matt-white reflectors as in Fig. 1.
Fluorescent lamps have advantages over the older hot-filament lamps. They can be arranged to give uniform illumination even when mounted in comparatively shallow boxes (only eight inches deep in the present instance). Also, for the same power consumption, they give out more light and less heat, so that glass screens do not become overheated.
