Standardised Radiological Pelvimetry—II. Qualitative

E. Peter Allen, M.B., M.R.C.P.E., D.M.R., Radiologist

New Plymouth Hospital

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

An attempt is made to provide standards for classification of the pelvis into types. The principle is adopted that standardisation is only possible on the basis of the relationship existing between the various brim diameters expressed as ratios. It is concluded that the brim index provides most of the information required for a standard system, and that the Caldwell and Moloy system is not satisfactory. Standard figures for the basic pelvic types are suggested.
