The Radiological Appearances of Bone in Cases of Tropical Ulcer

J. A. Brocklebank, M.D., M.R.C.P., D.M.R.E., Major, Formerly Assistant Radiologist

R.A.M.C., St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington; Radiologist to a Military Hospital

This excerpt was created in the absence of an abstract.

A description is given of the radiological changes of bone seen in West African negroes suffering from tropical ulcer of the lower part of the leg. These commence as a local periostitis, which may develop into extensive osteomyelitis, and some of the differences between these changes and those of syphilis and yaws occurring in the same country are described. A possible etiology of the bone changes is discussed.
